Garlock seals a second deal to expand
Elland
(Mar-18-2009)
A local sealing technology expert whose clients include the world famous Large Hadron Collider experiment near Geneva is marking its second acquisition in three months.
Elland-based Garlock (Great Britain) Limited has acquired PTM (UK) Limited, a manufacturer and distributor of sealing solutions which specialises in the chemical, pharmaceutical and OEM markets.
The deal, which sees the company boost the team by 40 and acquire PTM’s three sites in Stockport and Wrexham, follows the purchase of Leeds-based Northern Gaskets and Mouldings in December.
Garlock MD Stuart Phythian hailed the company’s membership of Vistage International, a chief executives’ organisation as a key part of the success. He says:
“Vistage has played a vital role in our achievements. In my first months as MD the group was a critical part of overcoming the challenges the role entailed, particularly before we went ‘live’ on the acquisitions.
"Garlock’s vision is to become the global leader in industrial sealing solutions and being able to benefit from the experience of other business leaders through Vistage is a huge asset as we seek to make that goal a reality.”
Vistage International has ten groups in Yorkshire and brings together business leaders for monthly development sessions. It has more than 15,000 members globally.
